Hello, my name is Korby. As you can see from my picture, I have a very handsome face. I am a 2½ year old American Water Spaniel. (I'm what is sometimes called a YAM: a young adult male.) I know my name and always come when called. I am very smart and learn new things quickly. I am very good in the house, I walk nicely on my leash, and I love going for a car ride! I am crate-trained and don't mind going in my crate at all when you go to work, especially if there is a nice comfy bed for me there. My favorite toy is a tennis ball, although I like to chew on my blankie, too.

Now for the not so good stuff: I have an alopecia-like skin condition that has caused hair loss on some parts of my body. It’s not thyroid, it’s not contagious, and it’s not curable. Also, when you take me out in the yard, sometimes you have to be patient with me, because there is so much interesting stuff outside that I can get distracted, and it can take me a little longer than necessary to do what I should be doing out there. And even though I do think little kids are fine, my temperament/energy level is better suited to the older kids (13 years plus).

I am very good with voice commands and need someone who will use positive reinforcement training rather than any kind of physical corrections (people who are heavy-handed upset me, especially when they yell at the same time). My energy level is pretty typical for a dog my age, so it would be great if my new family would help me get regular exercise every day. While I live with a senior female AWS and don't mind other dogs, I think I would like to be an only dog so I can soak up all your love and attention. I am one happy guy and I know we will be happy together!
